The Aquaculture Research Institute (ARI), located at the University of Maine, invites applications for a PhD Graduate Research Assistant position in Fish Nutrition & Nutrigenomics. The successful candidate will join the esteemed Fish Nutrition & Nutrigenomics Laboratory (FNNL) within ARI, a dynamic team of experts dedicated to advancing research in sustainable aquaculture practices.

About the Position:

As a PhD Graduate Research Assistant, the selected candidate will play a pivotal role in evaluating novel feed ingredients for sustainable salmon feeds and applying physio-biochemical and molecular approaches in finfish nutrition studies. This position is part of a newly funded five-year project aimed at developing sustainable feed ingredients, commencing in Spring 2025.

Required Qualifications:

  • Academic background in aquaculture, marine biology, molecular biology, or related fields.
  • Proficiency in analytical laboratory tasks and fish husbandry activities.
  • Enthusiasm for interdisciplinary research and eagerness to acquire new skills.
  • Experience in data management and statistical analysis.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • MSc degree in aquaculture, marine biology, molecular biology, or related fields.
  • Background in fish nutrition, physiology, molecular biology, and nutrigenomics.
  • Experience with aquafeed formulation and production.
