Indian Coast Guard executed a daring rescue mission, successfully recovering 27 fishermen who had been missing for a prolonged four-day period along with their distressed fishing vessel in the perilous waters of the Arabian Sea. The riveting rescue concluded with the safe arrival of the relieved fishermen at the port of Karwar.
The distress call sounded when the fishing boat, identified as Christo Ray from Panaji, encountered engine troubles amid adverse weather conditions, causing it to lose its bearings and deviate from its intended course. Stranded approximately 30 nautical miles into the expansive Arabian Sea, the vessel faced the dual challenge of navigating turbulent weather and an inability to establish communication.
Prompting the involvement of local authorities, distress messages were relayed to the Goa and Karnataka police. Recognizing the gravity of the situation, a plea for assistance was urgently dispatched to the Indian Coast Guard.
The ensuing nine-hour operation unfolded amidst challenging weather conditions, with Coast Guard officials showcasing remarkable expertise and resilience to locate and rescue the beleaguered fishermen. Despite the initial challenge in pinpointing the boat’s location, the relentless efforts of the Coast Guard ensured the safe retrieval of all individuals on board.
Expressing deep gratitude, the fishermen, now safely ashore at the Karwar fisheries port, commended the Coast Guard’s swift and effective response. Coast Guard officials underscored the intricacy of the operation, highlighting the significant challenge posed by the boat’s inability to establish contact with the mainland. Nevertheless, their adept personnel, armed with state-of-the-art technology and an unwavering commitment to duty, triumphed over these obstacles to ensure the safety of all the fishermen.
