A crucial District Level Committee (DLC) meeting was convened under the leadership of Deputy Commissioner Ayushi Sudan to conclude the selection process for beneficiaries under the Pradhan Mantri Matsaya Sampada (PMSSY) fisheries sector in Kupwara, Jammu and Kashmir.
During the meeting, AD Fisheries Sajad Ahmad reported that 34 applications were received for the allotment of one auto e-rickshaw, a component of PMSSY aimed at enhancing fish marketing facilities.
Following a thorough document scrutiny, 27 applicants were deemed eligible to benefit from the program. The selected candidates would receive one e-auto rickshaw each, with a total cost of Rs.3 lakhs and a departmental subsidy of Rs.1.2 lakhs.
To ensure transparency and fairness, a draw of lots was conducted in the presence of all DLC members. From the pool of 27 eligible candidates, Ijaz Ahmad Malla of Lokipora Handwara emerged as the selected beneficiary for the e-auto rickshaw allotment.
The meeting witnessed the participation of key stakeholders, including ADDC Kupwara Altaf Ahmad Khan, SE Jal Shakti Kupwara, Assistant Commissioner Panchayats, Head KVK Kupwara, Assistant Director Fisheries, Chief Agriculture Officer Kupwara, and the applicants under PMSSY, specifically from the fishermen community.
This initiative under PMSSY aims to bolster the fisheries sector by providing essential resources and support to deserving individuals, contributing to the overall development of the region.
