Dr. Debtanu Barman, a well-known fisheries expert from Tripura, has been honored with the prestigious “Rashtariya Atal Samman 2024” by the Atal Foundation in New Delhi. This award recognizes his outstanding contributions to promoting fish farming at the grassroots level across Tripura and the North Eastern States. Dr. Barman will receive the award at the 4th National Award Ceremony on June 20th at Pradhan Mantri Sangrahalay, Teen Murti Marg, New Delhi.

The Rashtariya Atal Samman celebrates individuals who have made significant contributions to society across various sectors. Dr. Barman, originally from Melaghar, Tripura, and now a successful fisheries entrepreneur in Kolkata, expressed his gratitude to the Atal Foundation, his family, and the fisherfolk communities for their unwavering support. He is the elder son of Ratan Barman and Bijali Barman and runs “Aqua Doctor Solutions.”
