Dr. Subbanna Ayyappan Honored with Bhaskaracharya Tribute for Contributions to Aquaculture

Sindagi, Karnataka – The Saranga Math in Sindagi has paid tribute to renowned Indian aquaculture scientist Dr. Subbanna Ayyappan by presenting him with the prestigious Bhaskaracharya award. The annual award, named in honor of the legendary astronomer Bhaskaracharya, recognizes outstanding achievements in various scientific fields.

Dr. Ayyappan, a Padma Shri awardee, has played a pivotal role in advancing fisheries and agricultural technologies in India. He has visited over 45 countries to study and share knowledge on these sectors, holding key government positions throughout his career, including Director-General of the Indian Council of Agricultural Research (ICAR) from 2010 to 2016. He was also instrumental in India’s Blue Revolution, significantly advancing the nation’s aquaculture industry.

This honour underscores Dr. Ayyappan’s lasting contributions to India’s scientific community and his pioneering work in fisheries and agriculture.
