The Fisherman Training Centre in Ela Dhauji, Old Goa, is inviting applications for its Six-Month Fisheries Training Course, starting June 18, 2024. This comprehensive program covers Fishing Craft and Gear, Navigation and Seamanship, Marine Diesel Engine Maintenance, Modern Nets Weaving and Mending, Seafood Value Addition and Marketing, Aquaculture, Aquarium Making, and Swimming.
Eligible candidates must have completed at least the VIIIth standard and be between 18-35 years old. Preference will be given to Scheduled Caste and Scheduled Tribe candidates, as well as youths from the fishing community with sea experience. Admitted candidates will receive a stipend of Rs. 1000 per month and a daily allowance of Rs. 100 during fishing trips.
