HANDS-ON TRAINING PROGRAMME ON BIOINFORMATICS TOOLS AND TECHNIQUES AT ICAR-CENTRAL INSTITUTE OF BRACKISHWATER AQUACULTURE

Genomic datasets are growing at an exponential rate, necessitating bioinformaticians to analyze and annotate these datasets. Genomics, transcriptomics, and metagenomics are the major areas for bioinformatics researchers. The generation of whole genomes provides a basic understanding of the coding and non-coding regions of organisms. Transcriptomics is used to generate unigenes and identify differentially expressed genes, which provide insights into the expression profiles of an organism. Metagenomic analysis reveals the composition of microorganisms in an environment and their functions. Developing skills to analyze genomic datasets has become essential knowledge for biologists in recent years.

- Basics of Linux environment, R, and Python
- Sampling procedures for isolating DNA/RNA
- Quality control of sequence datasets
- Prokaryote and eukaryote genome assembly
- Discovery of unigenes using RNAseq datasets
- Differential expression analysis using RNAseq datasets
- Metagenomic amplicon data analysis
- Detailed annotation of transcripts

Course Fee
A fee of Rs. 6,000/- (plus GST) per candidate will be charged for the course. Course material and working lunch will be provided by the organizers. Travel and accommodation charges are to be borne by the participants.
