ICAR CIFA CONDUCTS TRAINING PROGRAM ON ADVANCED FISH DISEASE DIAGNOSTICS

ICAR-Central Institute of Freshwater Aquaculture (CIFA) is organizing a specialized training program focused on advanced microbiological and molecular techniques for the diagnosis and management of freshwater fish diseases. The program aims to equip participants with cutting-edge skills for enhancing fish health management.

Topic: National training program on advanced microbiological and molecular biological techniques, in-vitro culture of fish cell lines for their application in cutting-edge research and early diagnosis of freshwater fish diseases

Major Objective:

To develop competency among various stakeholders in applying the latest diagnostic tools and techniques for fish disease diagnosis and cutting-edge research.

Course Contents:

  • Overview of common freshwater fish pathogens and the diseases they cause
  • Necropsy and histopathology techniques, tissue sample processing, and blood collection for disease diagnosis
  • Microbiological methods: Pure culture, spread plate, and pour plate techniques
  • Nucleic acid extraction and purification for disease diagnosis
  • Application of PCR and real-time PCR-based diagnosis of fish diseases
  • Immunodiagnostic methods, including ELISA
  • SDS-PAGE and Western blot techniques
  • Primary cell culture, established cell lines, maintenance of cells, sub-culture, storage, and propagation

Travel and Accommodation:

Participants must reach ICAR-CIFA at their convenience before the program begins. Accommodation and meals will be provided at the institute’s guest house/farmers’ hostel on a payment basis, upon request.

How to Apply:

Interested candidates should register and apply online at ICAR-CIFA Training Portal. Participants are advised to travel to ICAR-CIFA, Bhubaneswar only after receiving a confirmation email. The last date for online registration is 11.09.2024. Selected candidates will be informed via email.

Registration Fee:

A fee of Rs. 5000/- (including GST) is payable for attending the training program. For payment details, please visit the ICAR-CIFA Training Portal.

How to Reach:

ICAR-Central Institute of Freshwater Aquaculture is well connected to Biju Patnaik International Airport (12 km) and Bhubaneswar Railway Station (10 km). Participants can choose their preferred mode of transport. Contact details of course coordinators will be provided before the commencement of the program.

Postgraduate students, faculty members of SAUs, scientists, researchers, fisheries officers, progressive fish farmers, entrepreneurs, NGO staff, and SMS-KVK.
