About RGCA
The Rajiv Gandhi Centre for Aquaculture (RGCA) is the R&D arm of the Marine Products Export Development Authority (MPEDA), Government of India. RGCA is involved in numerous unique projects related to aquaculture across India.
Marine Fin Fish Hatchery Project (MFHP)
One of notable projects is the Marine Fin Fish Hatchery Project (MFHP), located in Pozhiyoor, Thiruvananthapuram. This project focuses on the breeding of marine fin fish such as Cobia and Silver Pompano, as well as the nursery and grow-out farming of Pompano and Asian Seabass. Additionally, the unit operates a demonstration cage facility at Jeppiaar Fishing Harbour in Muttom, Kanyakumari district, where Cobia, Silver Pompano, and Sea bass cage culture activities are conducted.
Internship Program
To benefit students from universities and colleges, RGCA is offering an exciting internship program at both MFHP and the cage facility. This program aims to provide hands-on practical exposure and valuable experience suited for academic curriculum purposes.
