Aquaculture production in India has shown significant growth with an annual increase of 8-10%. However, a major challenge in this sector is the availability of quality feed, which is crucial for fish and shrimp farming. The high cost of commercial feed is often prohibitive, especially for marginal fish farmers, who contribute 80-90% of the country’s aquaculture production. This training program aims to equip entrepreneurs and farmers with the knowledge and skills needed to produce their own cost-effective, nutritionally balanced feed using locally available ingredients. This will not only reduce production costs but also enhance profitability and sustainability in aquaculture practices.
The training will cover modern approaches in feed technology, enabling participants to produce feed tailored to the nutritional needs of various life stages of fish and shellfish. Additionally, the program will focus on feeding management strategies to optimize feed usage and reduce overall production costs.
