Goa-based companies delved into potential trade and collaboration avenues in the technology and fisheries sectors at the Egder-India Business seminar held in the coastal town of Agder, Norway. Led by state Fisheries Minister Nilkanth Halarnkar, the Goa delegation included Dr Shamila Monteiro, director of Fisheries, Judah Fernandez, co-founder of Kilowott, and Miguel Rodrigues, managing director of Joecons.
The seminar provided a platform for officials from the fisheries department and fishing industry stakeholders to brainstorm strategies for increasing Goa’s marine yield through technological advancements. Porvorim-based tech company Kilowott, with offices in Norway, actively participated in the seminar, represented by co-founder Judah Fernandez, at the invitation of the Norway-India Chamber of Commerce and Industry.
“Goa companies within the state delegation sought equipment, technology, and advanced knowhow – areas in which Norway excels – to significantly enhance Goa’s marine yield,” acknowledged Judah Fernandez. The discussions at the seminar focused on leveraging Norway’s expertise in technology and fisheries to drive innovation and productivity in Goa’s marine industry.
This collaborative effort highlights Goa’s commitment to leveraging international partnerships and cutting-edge technology to address challenges and unlock opportunities in its fisheries sector. With the exchange of ideas and expertise, Goa aims to strengthen its position as a leader in sustainable marine resource management and economic development.
