Indonesia-based aquatech startup, Jala, has successfully raised $13.1 million in a series A funding round led by Intudo Ventures, with participation from Sinar Mas Digital Ventures, and existing investors Mirova and Meloy Fund.

The newly secured funds will be utilized by Jala to enhance its platform, focusing on providing more comprehensive predictions for cultivation performance, water quality, and shrimp disease. Additionally, Jala aims to strengthen its automated data input capabilities for shrimp weight and feed data.

Founded in 2017 by Aryo Wiryawan and Liris Maduningtyas, Jala has developed an app that empowers farmers to record, monitor, and analyze their shrimp farm activities in real-time. The company boasts a significant impact, having monitored shrimp across more than 35,000 water bodies for its nearly 20,000 users.

Jala also offers ancillary services such as Jala Smartfarm, a credit scoring service facilitating farmers’ access to financing options, and Jala Harvest, a solution, aiding farmers in bringing their products to market.
