In a dramatic sea rescue off the Malpe coast in Udupi district, eight fishermen, facing peril as their deep-sea fishing boat, ‘Sri Narayana,’ capsized, were brought to safety by the swift action of their fellow seafarers. The ill-fated incident occurred during the early hours of December 19, when the boat, which set sail from Malpe port on December 12, encountered trouble as water breached its hull, possibly due to a collision with an unidentified object.
Responding to the distress call sent by the crew, fishermen from another vessel, ‘Sri Mookambika Anugraha,’ promptly rushed to the scene. Demonstrating exceptional courage and camaraderie, they successfully rescued the stranded individuals from the sinking ‘Sri Narayana.’
The timely intervention ensured the safe retrieval of all eight fishermen, averting a potential maritime tragedy. Following the rescue operation, the survivors were transported ashore, bringing an end to the harrowing ordeal.
