Natural Shrimp, Inc. (OTCQB: SHMP), a leading Biotechnology Aquaculture Company, has concluded a successful 6-month trial in Japan with its patented Electrocoagulation (EC) and Hydrogas™ technologies. The trial, completed at the end of February 2024, showcased the effectiveness of the Company’s innovative equipment in shrimp research facilities.
During the trial, conducted in collaboration with the Japanese team, the Equipment was installed and operated to compare its performance with traditional biofilters. The EC system efficiently removed ammonia from the water, while the presence of Hydrogas led to an increased shrimp growth rate compared to tanks treated solely by biofilters.
Natural Shrimp actively supported the trial, making three trips to Japan and providing remote access to the Equipment between visits. The Japanese team, after initial instruction by NSI, was able to independently operate the EC and Hydrogas equipment and conducted extensive testing under various conditions, collecting empirical data on flow rates, ammonia levels, and amperage levels.
Tom Untermeyer, Natural Shrimp’s Chief Technology Officer, expressed satisfaction with the collaboration, stating, “The Japanese quickly learned how to operate the EC and Hydrogas equipment and shared with us the data that they collected during the trial.” He highlighted the potential of NSI technology in the Japanese market, given its shrimp import conditions and high consumption of shrimp as a primary protein source.
NSI is now exploring opportunities to establish joint ventures, licensing agreements, or business combinations in Japan based on the promising results of the trial.
