Oman AgroFood 2023 Kicks Off, Showcasing Global Innovations in Agriculture and Food

Muscat – The Fifth International Exhibition for Agriculture, Food, and Aquaculture, Oman AgroFood 2023, commenced on Monday at the Oman Convention and Exhibition Centre, with the event set to continue until Wednesday. The exhibition, inaugurated by H.E. Dr. Saud Hamoud al Habsi, Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries, and Water Resources (MAFWR), serves as a collaborative effort between International Fairs & Promotions and Al Nimr Expo.

Featuring participation from over 100 companies worldwide, including representatives from China, Poland, Spain, Saudi Arabia, the UAE, Iran, Egypt, India, Jordan, Kuwait, Libya, Afghanistan, Mauritania, and Indonesia, Oman AgroFood 2023 provides a significant business platform. The event covers diverse sectors such as food, agriculture, and fisheries, offering visitors the opportunity to explore the latest innovations and solutions.

Dr. Masoud bin Sulaiman al Azri, Director General of Agricultural and Fisheries Marketing and official MAFWR spokesman, highlighted the exhibition’s role in fostering communication and connections between Omani companies and their international counterparts. He emphasized the importance of introducing modern technology in machinery and equipment for the development and sustainability of these sectors.

The exhibition’s key highlights include a diverse range of agricultural products and equipment, poultry farm supplies, organic produce, animal feed, fertilizers, soil improvers, bee and livestock products, modern irrigation methods, greenhouse equipment, and laboratory solutions.

Providing insights into Oman’s wheat cultivation program, Majida al Habsia from the Marketing and Communications Department of Oman Flour Mills Company shared that 2,203 Omani farmers are involved in the program, resulting in a harvest of 7,119,403 tonnes of wheat in the 2022/2023 season.

Ali bin Mahmoud al Tamami from Bahwan Services and Trading introduced the innovative Homeland Plants (Smart Farm) project, a pioneering initiative globally and particularly in the Gulf countries.
