In the drive towards achieving sustainability in pangasius aquaculture, Entobel and Vinh Hoan have teamed up and come together to encourage the use of alternative feed like insects. Signing of the partnership, which aims at strengthening the aquaculture chain with the priority on environmental sustainability, is a great signal.
This partnership presumes that the Feed One, a part of Vinh Hoan, will purchase a large quantity of insect protein produced by the Vung Tau facility of Entobel throughout 2024. The collaboration is intended for quicker adoption of insect protein in aquaculture thus enhancing the environmental sustainability of food systems.
The previously concluded contract for 2024 offtake is not the only commitment of Vinh Hoan to purchase 15,000 metric tonnes minimum of insect protein from Entobel over the next three years. Nguyen Ngo Vi Tam, CEO of Vinh Hoan, highlighted the significance of this partnership in the quest of an aquaculture value chain that operates within the shores of resilience and sustainability. Insect-feed is beneficial to fish health and immunity, as the fish farmer has the holistic awareness towards sustainable sourcing.
In the last month Entobel, which recently upscaled the production facility in Vung Tau, was positive on the growing market of insect protein. The partnership with Vinh Hoan is Gaëtan Crielaard, co-founder and co-chief executive of Entobel, who speaks of official recognition of Entobel specialization in the supply of high-quality insect protein on a global scale.
As Entobel goes ahead, they will commence the Series C funding round in the second quarter of 2024 that will enable the company to realize its regional expansion plans. The objective is to have new facilities up and running in crucial markets, like Vietnam, Indonesia and Malaysia, which ultimately will strengthen the status of the company as the leader in sustainable aquaculture systems.
The joint approach between the two companies Entobel and Vinh Hoan is a great milestone in the search for sustainable aquaculture practices, illustrating the power of consistent efforts and partnership in the endeavor of tackling environmental hurdles.
