Are you passionate about marine ecology and fisheries management? An exciting opportunity awaits at MI Marine Institute, Memorial University of Newfoundland!

Project Focus: Dive into the world of fish ecology and stock assessment in Newfoundland and Labrador, Canada. Our project aims to revolutionize population dynamics modeling for capelin (Mallotus villosus) in the region’s marine ecosystem. Capelin, a crucial component of the food web, is in need of better understanding for effective fisheries management. Join us in developing a state-of-the-art population dynamics model that incorporates ecosystem mechanisms influencing capelin life history processes.

Funding: Offering a full scholarship, including a generous $27,000 annual stipend for four years, along with funds for professional travel to meetings and conferences.

Location: Your academic journey will take place at the Fisheries and Marine Institute, Memorial University of Newfoundland, nestled in the heart of St. John’s, Canada.

Requirements:

  • MSc in Fisheries Science/Ecology, Statistics, Mathematics, Marine Ecology/Biology, Oceanography, or related field.
  • Proficiency in quantitative skills and experience with R or Python.
  • Excellent written and communication skills.
