Position Details:
- Essential Qualifications:
- Postgraduate in Fisheries Science/Marine Science/Biotechnology/Oceanography or Equivalent
- Desirable Experiences/Qualifications:
- Seaworthy, physically fit, and able to swim
- Experience in marine mammal taxonomy/biology/survey/stock assessment with a strong interest in the conservation of marine mammals
- Experience in molecular biological techniques
- Experience in fisheries and oceanographic data collection onboard vessels/boats and handling oceanographic equipment
- Scientific publications in peer-reviewed journals/reports
Job Nature and Duration:
- Willingness to travel along the Indian coast for data collection and to go onboard regularly in traditional commercial fishing vessels and undertake long-duration cruises for marine mammal surveys and oceanographic data collection
- Responsibilities include data entry, data mining, compilation, tabulation, and analysis, stock assessment of marine mammals, and preparation of technical reports and scientific publications
- The position is purely on a contract basis for one year (may extend up to 3 years) or until the project terminates, whichever is earlier
Age Limit:
- Minimum 21 years and maximum 45 years, with relaxation as per rules
Emoluments:
- Rs. 42,000/- per month (Consolidated Emoluments as per ICAR guidelines)
Place of Posting:
- ICAR-CMFRI, Kochi, with travel required along the Indian coast as per work requirements
Terms and Conditions:
- All original certificates from matriculation onwards to Masters must be sent in scanned form to mmsaicmfri23@gmail.com on or before 06.2024. Without these certificates, applicants will not be allowed to appear for the interview. A valid ID proof must be produced at the time of the interview.
- Concealing facts or canvassing in any form will lead to disqualification or termination.
- The competent authority can terminate the appointment without assigning any reason at any time.
- No TA/DA will be provided for the interview.
- If any candidate’s relative is an ICAR-CMFRI employee, the candidate must declare the relative’s name, designation, nature of duties, and relationship in writing (ANNEXURE-II) and communicate this to mmsaicmfri23@gmail.com on or before 06.2024.
- All candidates must submit declarations as detailed in ANNEXURE-I and ANNEXURE-II, duly signed, by 06.2024.
- The number of vacancies may change based on project requirements as of the interview date.
- A No Objection Certificate from the present employer must be produced if applicable.
- The Director, ICAR-CMFRI, has the final decision in all respects.
- Candidates with CGPA/OGPA marks must provide an approved conversion table/formula at the interview, or their candidature will not be considered.
- Selected candidates cannot claim regular appointments at ICAR-CMFRI as these positions are purely contractual, non-regular, time-bound, and co-terminus with the project.
