Training Program on Fish Disease Diagnosis and Health Management Kicks Off at SKUAST-Kashmir

Srinagar: The Sher-e-Kashmir University of Agricultural Sciences and Technology of Kashmir (SKUAST-Kashmir) has commenced a six-week training program on “Fish Disease Diagnosis & Health Management in Cold Water Fisheries” at its Faculty of Fisheries, Rangil campus.

Organized by the Division of Aquatic Animal Health Management (AAHM), Faculty of Fisheries, the training is financially supported by the Ministry of Micro, Small & Medium Enterprises (MSME), Government of India. A cohort of twenty-five unemployed youth with diverse backgrounds is actively participating in the program.

Dr. Asifa Wali, Assistant Professor and Program Coordinator, Division of AAHM, FoFy, highlighted the significance of health management in the fisheries sector during the briefing session. Prof. Feroz A Shah, Head of Division of AAHM, delved into the intricacies of fish diseases, diagnosis, and their management, emphasizing the potential for better returns and production enhancement. Prof. Farooz Ahmad Bhat, Dean of FoFy, emphasized the fundamental role of disease diagnosis and health management in achieving sustainable cold-water fisheries.

Dr. Shariq Nazir Qadiri, Assistant Professor in the Division of AAHM, expressed gratitude during the vote of thanks. The program aims to equip participants with valuable skills and knowledge in fish disease diagnosis and health management, contributing to the overall development of the fisheries sector.
