Union Minister Parshottam Rupala Leads Fisheries Development Initiatives in Visakhapatnam

Hon’ble Union Minister of Fisheries, Animal Husbandry and Dairying, Parshottam Rupala spearheaded a comprehensive program in Visakhapatnam, reviewing and propelling key initiatives for the modernization and upgradation of the Visakhapatnam fishing harbour. The ongoing project, implemented under PMMSY (Pradhan Mantri Matsya Sampada Yojana) through the Visakhapatnam Port Authority, aims to enhance facilities for the fishing community.

During his visit, Minister Rupala engaged with the Fishermen Association and assessed the progress made in the modernization efforts. The focus of the review included discussions on the implementation of the PMMSY scheme and the issuance of Kisan Credit Cards (KCC) for fishers and fish farmers in Andhra Pradesh. Dr. Abhilaksh Likhi, Union Secretary of the Department of Fisheries (DoF), actively participated in the discussions and provided insights into the advancements achieved in these crucial areas.

The meeting brought together officials from the Department of Fisheries (DoF), Government of India, representatives from the Government of Andhra Pradesh, and leading banks. The collaborative efforts showcased a commitment to fostering sustainable practices and supporting the welfare of the fishing community.

As part of the day’s agenda, Hon’ble Union Minister Shri Parshottam Rupala chaired the 10th Annual General Meeting of the Governing Body of the National Fisheries Development Board at the Green Park Hotel in Visakhapatnam. The meeting served as a platform to comprehensively review various government schemes, including PMMSY, Fisheries Infrastructure Development Fund (FIDF), and Kisan Credit Cards.
