The following temporary positions are available under a MoES-INCOIS funded research project titled “Validation of Tuna and Potential Fishing Zones (PFZs) Advisories in Nagapattinam District of Tamil Nadu Coast” at the Thanjavur Centre for Sustainable Aquaculture (Thanjavur CeSA), Soorakottai.

1. Junior Research Fellow (JRF)

• No. of Vacancies: 1
• Place of Work: Thanjavur CeSA
• Remuneration: Rs. 30,000/- per month (Consolidated)
• Essential Educational Qualifications:
  M.F.Sc. in Aquatic Environment Management/Fisheries Resource Management with research experience.
• Desirable Qualifications:
  Relevant publications in water quality, PFZ, Remote Sensing, and GIS applications. Experience in software handling.

2. Technical Assistant (TA)

• No. of Vacancies: 1
• Place of Work: Thanjavur CeSA
• Remuneration: Rs. 20,000/- per month (Consolidated)
• Essential Educational Qualifications:
  B.F.Sc./B.Sc. in Nautical Science.
• Desirable Qualifications:
  Physical fitness to undertake work on-board boats/ships at sea.

Key Responsibilities:

• Junior Research Fellow (JRF):
  Involves intensive Tuna and PFZ validation experiments, onboard sampling, data collection, assisting in training and workshops, data interpretation, and report writing.
• Technical Assistant (TA):
  Tasks include boat hiring, sample collection and analysis, assisting in training and workshops, and other office works.

Terms and Conditions:

1. Positions are temporary, initially for one year, extendable based on performance or project requirements until March 2026 or co-terminus with the project.
2. No possibility of continuation or switching to other vacant posts.
3. Candidates will be governed by the university regulations for contractual engagement.
4. Place of posting is provisional and subject to change based on project needs.
5. Submission of claims for allowances is not allowed under normal conditions.
