assam cabinet undergoes major reshuffle keshab mahanta takes charge of key portfolios

In a significant development within the Assam Cabinet, Keshab Mahanta has been appointed to helm the Fisheries, Transport, and Excise Department effective Tuesday. This reshuffle follows the resignation of Parimal Suklabaidya, who vacated these portfolios after his triumph in the 2024 Lok Sabha Elections.

Keshab Mahanta, previously serving as the Health Minister, will now pass on his responsibilities in health to Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma. CM Sarma, in addition to his existing roles, will take charge of the Home Department, Personnel Department, Public Works Department, Health & Family Welfare Department, Medical Education & Research Department, and Indigenous & Tribal Faith and Culture Department (Except Directorates of Library & Museum and Directorate of Archaeology).

The realignment aims to streamline governance and focus on key developmental agendas across various sectors in Assam. Stay tuned for further updates on this evolving story.
